New to Next.js development?
What is Next.js development?
We build marketing sites, storefronts, portals and SaaS front ends, and upgrade older Next.js apps.
Work runs as a fixed-scope project, a dedicated team or Next.js engineers who join your team.
Starting point
Where are you with Next.js?
What does your Next.js work look like today?
- Path 01Nothing built yet
A new Next.js build
You need a new site, storefront or app front end built on Next.js.
- Started on Next.js 16 and the App Router
- Content model and CMS chosen early
- Playwright tests and preview deploys from the start
- Path 02We inherited a site
Taking over an existing Next.js app
An agency or former team built it, and nobody knows how it fits together.
- Code, dependency and performance review
- Build and deploy steps written down
- A written report and a plan
- Path 03It is out of date
Upgrading or modernizing
The app runs on Next.js 14 or earlier, the Pages Router, or a WordPress theme.
- Version stepped up to 16
- Routes moved to the App Router in stages
- WordPress kept as a headless CMS if wanted
A Next.js site or app on a supported version that your team can keep changing

- App Router
- Auth.js
- Prisma
- Drizzle
- Headless CMS
- Vitest
- Playwright
- Vercel

Upgrades
Which Next.js versions are still supported?
Next.js 16 is the Active LTS release. Next.js 15 gets security fixes until 31 January 2027, and Next.js 14 and earlier get none.
- Next.js 16
Upgrade the version
Step through 15 to 16, update React and dependencies, and fix breaking changes route by route.
Next.js 14 and earlier are unsupported. 15 gets security fixes to 31 January 2027.
- App Router
Move from the Pages Router
Move routes to the App Router and Server Components in stages, with both routers running side by side.
Fits large apps that cannot move every route in one release.
- Headless Next.js
Move off a WordPress theme
Rebuild the front end in Next.js and keep WordPress, or another CMS, for content.
Fits sites where the theme limits speed, design or security updates.
Engagement
How can you work with our Next.js engineers?
Three ways to engage. Each one is agreed in a written proposal before work starts.
- Fixed-scope project
We deliver a defined site, app or upgrade.
- SynconAI directs the work to agreed milestones
- Billed by milestone, as set out in the proposal
- A live site, tests and documentation
- Fits a launch, a rebuild or an upgrade
- Dedicated team
A Next.js team that works only on your product.
- You set priorities, our lead runs the team
- Billed monthly for the team
- Engineers, a lead and testing as needed
- Fits a product or site with a steady backlog
- Team extension
Next.js engineers who join your team.
- Your managers direct the day-to-day work
- Billed monthly for each engineer
- Vetted engineers, with employment and replacement handled by us
- Fits teams with a working process that need more hands
Process
How does a Next.js engagement start?
Five steps from the first call to a working site.
- Brief
- Call about your site and goals
- Repository access or a written scope
- Match or design
- Engineers matched to your stack
- Plan and proposal in writing
- Start
- NDA, access and preview deploys set up
- Codebase walkthrough and a first task
- Build and review
- Every change on a preview link
- Code review and demos with your team
- Hand over or continue
- Documentation and a handover session
- Or a monthly plan for ongoing work
Cost and timing
What it costs and how long it takes
The review is free
A 60-minute architecture review of your Next.js setup, with a written plan you keep.
A fixed-scope proposal first
Before any work starts you get a written proposal: a fixed-scope project with milestones, or a monthly plan. You approve it, or you do not.
Timing follows scope
How long it takes depends on what is in scope. The proposal states the milestones, so you see the timeline before you commit.
