## What is the MEAN stack?

MEAN stack development is the design, build, upgrade and support of web applications built on MongoDB, Express, Angular and Node.js, such as real-time dashboards, content and catalog platforms, IoT data apps, multi-tenant SaaS, collaboration tools and MVPs. SynconAI builds new MEAN applications, takes over existing ones, keeps each tier on a supported release, and supplies MEAN stack engineers who join client teams, for organizations in the United States, Australia and worldwide.

- MEAN is a web stack of MongoDB, Express, Angular and Node.js, with JavaScript or TypeScript in every tier.
- MongoDB stores data as JSON-like documents, which suits catalogs, dashboards and data whose shape changes often.
- Each part has its own release and support cycle, so upgrades are planned tier by tier.

## MEAN stack development services

- New MEAN applications: SaaS products, MVPs and internal tools built from a written design.
- Real-time dashboards: Live views over streaming and IoT data that update without a refresh.
- APIs on Express and Node.js: Secured, documented APIs with Passport and Helmet in place.
- MongoDB data modeling: Schemas, indexes and Mongoose models designed for how the app reads.
- Tier-by-tier upgrades: MongoDB, Express, Angular and Node.js moved to supported releases.
- Testing: Jest unit tests and Playwright end-to-end tests in your pipeline.
- Salesforce integration: The Node.js tier connected through the Salesforce REST, Bulk and Pub/Sub APIs.
- Team extension: MEAN stack engineers who work in your repos, rituals and tools.

## Where are you with the MEAN stack?

Question: What state is your MEAN application in today?

- Not built yet: A new MEAN build. You need a SaaS product, dashboard or MVP and want one language across the stack.
  - Data model agreed before code
  - Current releases in every tier
  - Tests and pipeline from the first sprint
- Built by a team that left: Taking over an application. A MEAN app runs in production and the people who built it have moved on.
  - Code, database and hosting review first
  - Deploy, backup and restore steps written down
  - Fixes ranked by risk
- Several tiers out of date: Upgrading or modernizing. It works, but runs on MongoDB 6, Node.js 20, Express 4 or an old Angular.
  - Each tier checked against its support dates
  - Upgrades done in tested steps
  - Self-hosted MongoDB moved to Atlas if it helps

Outcome: A MEAN application on supported releases in every tier, with tests, documentation and a team that can run it

## What do our MEAN stack development services include?

One team across the database, the API and the Angular front end.

## The MEAN stack we work with

Four tiers, each with its own tools and support dates.

- Front end: Angular (What users see): Angular, RxJS, Angular Material
- API: Express and Node.js (How requests are served): Express 5, Node.js, NestJS, Passport, Helmet
- Data: MongoDB (Where data lives): MongoDB 8.0, MongoDB Atlas, Mongoose
- Testing and delivery (How each release is checked and shipped): Jest, Playwright, Docker

## Which parts of our MEAN stack need upgrading?

MongoDB 6.0 support ended in July 2025 and Node.js 20 in April 2026. Angular 20 reaches end of life on November 28, 2026.

Today: MongoDB 5 or 6, Express 4, Node.js 20

- MongoDB 8.0, Upgrade the database: MongoDB 8.0 is supported to October 2029; 7.0 ends in August 2027. We step through versions with backups and tests at each stop. Best for every app on MongoDB 6 or older.
- MongoDB Atlas, Move to a managed database: Self-hosted MongoDB moved to MongoDB Atlas, with backups, monitoring and upgrades handled by the service. Best when nobody on the team wants to run the database.
- Express 5 on Node.js 24 or 26, Update the API tier: Express 5 is current and Express 4 is still patched. Routes and middleware moved to 5 on Node.js 24 (to April 2028) or 26 (to April 2029). Best done together, since both touch every route.

## How can we work together on the MEAN stack?

Three ways to engage. Each starts with a written proposal agreed before work begins.

- Fixed-scope project, A defined MEAN deliverable, built and handed over.
  - We direct the work against agreed milestones
  - Priced per milestone in the proposal
  - Working code, tests and documentation
  - Fits an MVP, an upgrade or a rescue
- Dedicated team, A full-stack team that runs your product with you.
  - Our lead runs delivery, you set priorities
  - Billed on a monthly plan
  - Front-end, back-end and testing as one unit
  - Fits a SaaS product without an in-house team
- Team extension, MEAN stack engineers added to the team you already run.
  - Your managers direct the day-to-day work
  - Billed monthly for each engineer
  - Vetted engineers; we handle employment and replacement
  - Fits a backlog bigger than your current team

## How does a MEAN stack engagement start?

Five steps from the first call to delivery.

- Brief: Free 60-minute review of your application; Goals, constraints and access agreed under NDA
- Match or design: Engineers matched and interviewed by you; Or a scope and milestone plan written
- Start: Database, repos and environments set up; Codebase walkthrough and a first task
- Build and review: Sprints with code review on every change; Tests and a demo each sprint
- Hand over or continue: Runbooks and handover sessions; Or a monthly plan for support

## Cost and timing

The first step is a free 60-minute architecture review of your MEAN stack application setup, with a written plan you keep. Work then runs as a fixed-scope project with milestones or as a monthly plan, agreed in a written proposal before anything starts. Plans: https://synconai.com/pricing

## FAQ

### What do you build with the MEAN stack?

Real-time dashboards, content and catalog platforms, IoT data apps, multi-tenant SaaS products, collaboration tools and MVPs that need to change quickly.

### Which parts of our MEAN stack are out of support?

MongoDB 6.0 ended in July 2025 and Node.js 20 in April 2026. Angular 20 ends on November 28, 2026. MongoDB 8.0 runs to October 2029 and Node.js 26 to April 2029.

### How do your MEAN stack engagements work?

Three ways: a fixed-scope project with milestones, a dedicated team on a monthly plan, or engineers who join your team. Each starts with a written proposal agreed before work begins.

### Can your MEAN stack engineers join our team?

Yes. They work in your repos, tools and sprint rituals, and your managers direct the day-to-day work. We handle employment, and the replacement terms are written into the contract.

### How do you vet MEAN stack engineers?

Each engineer passes a technical interview across MongoDB, Node.js and Angular, a practical coding exercise and a review by a senior engineer. You interview them and decide before anyone starts.

### Can a MEAN app connect to Salesforce?

Yes. The Node.js tier connects through the Salesforce REST, Bulk and Pub/Sub APIs, often with jsforce, a community library, so the Angular front end never holds Salesforce credentials.

### Which time zones do you cover?

We work from hubs in Delaware and Sydney and deliver remotely worldwide on your business hours. The agreed overlap with your team is written into the contract.

## Where we work

MEAN stack development for organizations across the United States and Australia, and worldwide. Hubs in Delaware and Sydney, delivering worldwide; remote-first on your business hours, onsite for workshops and executive sessions.
