## In short

Salesforce completed the Qualified acquisition on 1 April 2026. Qualified does not replace Marketing Cloud Engagement. A conversation is not an email send. Name which system owns the next step, and the failure when both send. If both systems message the same person, you have two owners and no integration.

## What to take away

- Salesforce completed the Qualified acquisition on 1 April 2026. Qualified does not replace Marketing Cloud Engagement.
- A conversation is not an email send. Name which system owns the next step.
- The failure is both sending. One buyer, two messages, no single owner.
- A diagram that does not name the system, the object, and the failure is a poster.

## The guide

A buyer got a chat follow-up and an email in the same hour. Both asked for a meeting. Marketing Cloud Engagement sent the email, on a journey that was still live. Qualified held the conversation on the site, and someone had told it to send the next step as well. The buyer replied to neither, then replied to both, with two different times. The lead in Salesforce showed two tasks and no owner for the next step. A note from the day before had said to switch Engagement off because Qualified had replaced it. The welcome mail and the renewal reminder were marked retired in the same note. A second buyer, who had never visited the site, missed the renewal. The completion date had been used as a product replacement. The call did not fail quietly. Both systems sent.

That hour is the integration this page is about. Salesforce completed the Qualified acquisition on 1 April 2026. Qualified does not replace Marketing Cloud Engagement. A conversation is not an email send. Name which system owns the next step, and the failure when both send. A diagram that skips those is a poster. The build sits on [the Qualified implementation page](/qualified-agentic-marketing). The ownership story sits on [what happened to Qualified](/what-happened-to-qualified). This page is the next step.

## The system

This page quotes the completion once: "Salesforce completed its acquisition of Qualified on April 1, 2026." Read it as a date. Completion was 1 April 2026. The sentence does not describe your journeys, your suppression list, or your website. It does not say Qualified replaces Marketing Cloud Engagement. It does not say a chat is an email. It does not give a price or an end date. Write 1 April 2026 in the pack, and stop retiring a journey the sentence does not name.

Qualified is the conversation with a buyer who is on the site. Marketing Cloud Engagement is the place an email send still runs, on the facts this page uses. They can both exist. They cannot both own the next step for the same person. Name the owner. If the conversation owns the next step, Engagement must not send the meeting ask. If Engagement owns the next step, the conversation must not send it again. "They will coordinate" is not a name.

Marketing Cloud Next is a separate product. It does not replace Engagement, and Qualified does not become Next because a related service sits nearby. Keep the names apart on the diagram. A box that says Qualified is Marketing Cloud Next has used a menu label as a merger. This page links to Next for the people who need that product. It does not move the conversation into it.

Name the system that holds the lead or the contact you already trust. The conversation can write a fact onto that record only when you name the field. The email can read that record only when you name the journey. Two writes into "the lead" with no field will create the two tasks from the opening. This page will not invent an API name, a middleware SKU, or a price. The cited sentence does not publish a licence fee. This page does not give Qualified an end date, and it does not give Engagement an end date. The completion was not a shutdown.

## The object

A conversation is not an email send. The object the conversation is allowed to touch is a field or a task you name on the lead or the contact. A meeting time the buyer offered in chat is a fair field when one system owns it. An email address the journey already uses is not something the conversation should overwrite. Name the field. If you cannot, the conversation stays on the site and a person types the next step. That is slower, and it is one owner.

The email send has its own object, the journey and the audience. A renewal reminder to people who never visited the site is an Engagement job. Do not move it into the conversation because the conversation is newer. The buyer who missed the renewal was the proof. Leave the send where it runs until you have named a replacement that actually reaches that person. Qualified does not replace Marketing Cloud Engagement. A website conversation does not become the journey by completing an acquisition.

Write the suppression, or the handoff, in one direction. When the conversation owns the next step, the lead is kept out of the journey that would send the same ask. When the journey owns it, the conversation is told not to send. Write the flag, the field, or the list. "Both can send if the copy differs" is how one buyer gets two times. Different copy is still both sending.

The record in Salesforce is the place a seller looks up what was promised. It is not automatically either system. If the seller must see the next step, name the field they read, and name which system may write it. The other system may read. Two writers will disagree by the end of the hour, which is what the two tasks were.

## The failure when both send

The failure is both send. The buyer gets the chat and the email. They reply twice, or they reply to neither because the pair looks careless. A buyer who never came to the site gets nothing, because someone retired the email and the conversation cannot see them. Write both shapes. The one this page insists you test is both sending to the person who did both.

Say what you do in that hour. You stop one of the sends, you tell the buyer which time stands, and you name the system that owns the next step from now. You do not send a third message to apologise from both systems. You do not switch Engagement off for the whole programme because one journey doubled a chat. The renewal mail is a different object. Leave it until its own replacement exists.

A shared inbox that receives copies of both messages is not the design. Name the person who can see that both fired, before the buyer replies to both. That person needs the authority to halt one path. "Marketing" is not a name. A named owner of the next step is.

The call does not land at all when the conversation cannot write the field, or the journey cannot read the suppression, or the lead is in a sandbox neither system uses. That miss should send nothing, not a default email and a default chat. A default is how both send when the integration is unsure. Refusal is safer than a double ask.

Do not describe the double send as a content problem. The words can be perfect and the failure remains. Two systems acted. One should have acted. The acquisition date does not choose which.

## A diagram that omits three names is a poster

A diagram that does not name the system, the object, and the failure is a poster. Qualified's logo swallowing Marketing Cloud Engagement, with an arrow into "the buyer", does not say who owns the next step, which field is written, or what happens when both send. Draw two systems. Draw one owner. Draw the double send as the failure, with the person who halts one path.

Do not draw the conversation as an email. A speech bubble and an envelope on the same arrow is the failure, decorated. Split them. The conversation ends in a named field or it does not leave the site. The email runs in Engagement or it is suppressed. There is no third blob called messaging.

Do not draw Marketing Cloud Next as the new name of either box. Next does not replace Engagement. Qualified is not Next. If Next is genuinely in the programme, give it a sentence of its own, on its own page. It does not resolve the double send.

| What you name | A design says | A poster says |
| --- | --- | --- |
| System | Who owns the next step, conversation or email | Qualified replaces Engagement |
| Object | The field or the journey, not both writers | The buyer |
| Failure | Both send, and who stops one | They will coordinate |
| Absence | A person who never visited still gets the mail | Retire every journey |
| Next | A separate product, not this merger | The new name of the chat |

## What you settle before either system sends the next step

Write five lines before anyone connects them. Which system owns the next step. The field or journey that carries it. The suppression that keeps the other system quiet. What you tell the buyer if both have already sent. Who halts one path.

Then say what you are not buying. You are not buying a replacement for Marketing Cloud Engagement. You are not buying an email send inside a conversation. You are not buying Marketing Cloud Next under a Qualified label. You are not buying a price this page does not state. You are not buying an end date for either product. Leave the renewal journey running until a named replacement reaches the people who never visit the site.

[The implementation page](/qualified-agentic-marketing) is where the website conversation is kept apart from an email journey. [What happened to Qualified](/what-happened-to-qualified) is where 1 April 2026 and the refusal to treat the close as a shutdown of Engagement are kept. Use those pages when the meeting argues about the acquisition. Bring the meeting back to the buyer who was asked twice.

Agree who may give the conversation permission to send. That permission is a change of owner, not a tick. The poster does not gain a second sender because a template was easy to copy.

## A test you can run

Take one lead who can receive both a conversation and an email, in a place that is not your live audience if you can help it. Let the owning system send the next step. Confirm the other system does not. Read the record. One field, one task, one time. If you see two, both sent, and the test failed.

Then force both. Turn the suppression off on purpose. Both messages should be visible to the named person before a buyer would have two replies to make. That person should be able to halt one path and say which time stands. If they can only watch, the failure has no owner.

Confirm a buyer who never visits the site still has the email you did not mean to retire. Open that journey. If a runbook switched it off on 1 April 2026, switch the runbook back. The completion is not a replacement. Qualified does not replace Marketing Cloud Engagement.

:::

The integration is ready when a new marketer can see the owner of the next step, the field or the journey, and the double send without retiring the email programme. If the page still says Qualified replaced Engagement, send it back. 1 April 2026 did not decide which message the buyer should trust.

## Questions

### Does Qualified replace Marketing Cloud Engagement?

No. Salesforce completed the Qualified acquisition on 1 April 2026. A conversation on the site is not an email journey. Leave Engagement running for sends the conversation cannot see, including people who never visit the site.

### Is a conversation an email send?

No. A conversation is not an email send. Name which system owns the next step. The other system stays quiet for that step. Different copy from both systems is still both sending.

### What is the failure when both send?

One buyer gets two asks, often with two times. Name the person who can halt one path, and say which time stands. Do not send a third message from both systems. Do not retire every journey because one of them doubled.

### Is Qualified the same product as Marketing Cloud Next?

No. Marketing Cloud Next is a separate product. It does not replace Engagement, and Qualified does not become Next. Keep the names apart. A related service is not a merger.

### Which page covers the build, and which covers the acquisition?

The implementation page keeps the website conversation apart from an email journey. The what-happened page covers 1 April 2026. This page is who owns the next step, and the failure when both send.
