# Bonobo AI implementation cost: what conversation insight costs now

Bonobo was never sold as a Salesforce product, so it has no implementation price. The job it did, reading customer conversations for insight, is priced today inside Service Cloud.

## In short

There is no Bonobo product to implement, so there is no Bonobo implementation cost. Salesforce bought the Tel Aviv conversational AI startup in 2019 and never sold it under that name. The job it did, finding insight in customer conversations, is priced today through Service Cloud, from US$195 per user per month for Core, plus Customer Signals Intelligence at US$5 per 100 Experience Signals.

## What to take away

- Bonobo was absorbed in 2019 and has no licence, no package and no setup guide, so any quote that names it is pricing something else.
- The modern equivalent is Service Cloud plus Customer Signals Intelligence, which Salesforce lists at US$5 per 100 Experience Signals as at October 2026.
- Most of the cost sits in deciding which conversations count, getting consent and transcripts right, and wiring the insight to an action someone owns.
- Ask every bidder to forecast your signal volume and Flex Credit use in writing, because those meters, not the seat price, decide the second-year bill.

## The guide

Someone in the steering group remembers that Salesforce bought a company that could read customer chats and tell you what was going wrong. They are right. The company was Bonobo, and the deal was in 2019. What they are usually wrong about is the next step, which is to ask a partner for a quote to "turn Bonobo on". There is nothing to turn on, and a document that prices it is pricing a different product under an old name.

This page does the useful thing instead. It sets out what conversation insight costs in Salesforce now, at list price, and what an implementation of it actually contains.

## What Bonobo was, and why no one can quote it

Tech.eu's report of the deal described the startup plainly: "Bonobo develops conversational AI technology designed to extract insights from online customer interactions." That is a description of a team and its technology, not of a product Salesforce went on to sell. Bonobo never appeared on a Salesforce price list, never shipped as an AppExchange package under its own name, and has no setup guide. The people and the ideas went into Salesforce's service products, and the brand stopped.

So the honest implementation cost for Bonobo itself is nil, because there is no Bonobo to implement. If a statement of work arrives with a Bonobo line on it, ask the author which Salesforce feature, licence and setup page that line refers to. If they cannot name one, the line is padding.

The question behind the question is still worth answering. Most people who raise Bonobo want three things: to know why customers are unhappy before the survey results arrive, to see which topics drive repeat contact, and to give supervisors something better than a sample of five transcripts a week. Salesforce sells all three today, and it publishes prices for them.

## What you pay Salesforce for the same job today

The table below uses Salesforce's own pricing pages, as at October 2026. Prices are in US dollars per user per month unless the row says otherwise, and Salesforce also shows Australian dollar figures, which are given in brackets where the page displays them. See the [Service Cloud pricing page](https://www.salesforce.com/service/pricing/) and the [Service Operations pricing page](https://www.salesforce.com/au/service/customer-service-operations/) for the current figures, because both pages say they are subject to change.

| Item | Published list price | Billing basis |
|---|---|---|
| Service Cloud Starter Suite | US$25 (AU$35) per user per month | Starting price, billed monthly or annually |
| Service Cloud Pro Suite | US$100 (AU$140) per user per month | Starting price, billed annually, contract required |
| Service Cloud Core | US$195 (AU$273) per user per month | Billed annually |
| Service Cloud Advanced | US$395 (AU$553) per user per month | Billed annually |
| Service Cloud Max | US$550 (AU$770) per user per month | Billed annually, includes Agentforce for Service and 2.75M Flex Credits per org per year |
| Customer Signals Intelligence | US$5 (AU$7) per 100 Experience Signals | Consumption add-on to a Service Cloud edition |
| Feedback Management, Starter | US$13,500 (AU$18,900) per org per month | Billed annually, includes Salesforce Surveys with 100,000 responses |
| Agentforce Flex Credits | US$500 (AU$700) per 100,000 credits | Consumption, pre-purchase, pay as you go or pre-commit |

Customer Signals Intelligence is the closest thing on the current price list to what Bonobo set out to do. Salesforce describes it in one line: "Deliver customer experiences that drive loyalty with actionable feedback and sentiment insights." It is sold as an add-on to whichever Service Cloud edition you hold, and it is metered, not licensed per seat. That difference matters more than the headline figure.

The edition you sit on also changes what is already in the box. Salesforce positions Advanced as "The CRM for service with AI-powered channels, protected data, and smarter customer insights." and lists a Premier Success Plan, a full sandbox, Backup & Recover and Data Detect as included at that level. On Core, the same items show as available for purchase. A team that buys Core to save money and then needs a full sandbox to test sentiment rules against real transcripts has not saved what it thought.

## How the meters behave once you switch them on

Seat prices are easy to forecast. You count the service representatives and multiply. Conversation insight is different, because two of the three cost lines move with customer behaviour rather than headcount.

Experience Signals are counted in blocks of 100. The count rises with the number of interactions you analyse, so a busy month after a product fault costs more than a quiet one. That is the right incentive in principle, because you pay most when there is most to learn, but it means finance needs a forecast built from your actual contact volumes by channel, not from the number of licences.

Agentforce is the second meter. If you want the platform to summarise what is driving negative sentiment, draft Knowledge articles to close the gaps it finds, or brief supervisors in plain language, those are agent actions. Salesforce's Agentforce pricing page says that "Flex Credits are a new unit of payment for Agentforce that align cost to the business value your AI agents create." It also states that a standard Agentforce action uses 20 Flex Credits, which at US$500 per 100,000 credits works out at ten US cents an action. Max includes 2.75M Flex Credits per org per year. Lower editions buy them, or buy the Agentforce add-on, which Salesforce lists at US$125 per user per month for unmetered employee use.

The third line, feedback management, is optional and expensive at list. If the goal is sentiment on conversations you already hold, you may not need it. If the goal is surveys at scale, mapped back to cases and accounts, it is the product that does it, and the price is per org rather than per user.

## Three ways to buy it, and who each suits

There are three sensible licence shapes for conversation insight, and the right one depends less on the size of the team than on how much else you want from the platform.

The first is to stay on Core and add Customer Signals Intelligence, plus Flex Credits if you want Agentforce summaries. This suits a service team that already has its channels in Salesforce, is happy with its current support plan, and mainly wants sentiment trends and topic drivers. The seat cost stays low, and the variable cost is visible on its own line, which finance usually prefers.

The second is Advanced with the same add-on. The seat price roughly doubles, but the full sandbox, Premier Success Plan, backup and data detection arrive with it. If you would have bought two of those anyway, Advanced is often the cheaper route, and you should ask each bidder to model both.

The third is Max. It bundles Agentforce for Service, contact centre capabilities and 2.75M Flex Credits per org per year at US$550 per user per month, billed annually. That only makes sense when conversation insight is one part of a wider move to AI agents on the front line. Buying Max for sentiment analysis alone is paying for a contact centre transformation you have not planned.

Whichever shape you choose, the add-on is priced the same way, so the comparison is really about what the edition gives you around it.

## What an implementation is made of

Once the licence question is settled, the project looks like most service analytics work, with a few steps that are specific to reading conversations.

**Channel inventory.** List every place a customer talks to you: messaging on the website and app, email to case, voice, social, and any third-party chat tool. Insight is only as complete as the channels feeding it. A contact centre that runs voice outside Salesforce needs transcripts brought in, and that is integration work with its own cost.

**Consent and retention.** Recording and analysing conversations raises privacy questions in every market. Decide which channels you may analyse, how long transcripts are kept, and what the customer is told. Legal review belongs in the plan, not after go-live.

**Signal design.** Agree what a signal is for your business. A complaint about delivery times and a complaint about a rude representative are both negative, but they go to different owners. Build a short taxonomy and test it against a few hundred real conversations labelled by your own team leaders.

**Routing the insight.** A dashboard nobody acts on is a cost with no return. Each signal type needs an owner, a Flow or queue that puts it in front of them, and a service level for the response.

**The Knowledge loop.** If Agentforce is drafting articles to close gaps, someone must review and publish them. Budget for that editor's time, every week, for as long as the feature runs.

**Testing, training and hypercare.** Test that sentiment scores match what experienced supervisors would say. Train supervisors to read the views and challenge them. Plan four to six weeks of close attention after go-live while the volume forecast meets reality.

## What pushes the effort up or down

The single biggest driver is where conversations live. If chat, email and cases are already in Service Cloud, the data is in place and the work is configuration, taxonomy and change management. If voice runs on a separate telephony platform, or chat runs through a third-party widget, you are paying for integration and possibly for Data 360 to bring transcripts together.

Volume is the second driver, and it pushes the meter rather than the project. A high-volume consumer brand will spend more on Experience Signals than a business-to-business service desk handling a few hundred cases a week, even if the build is identical.

Language is the third. Analysing conversations in several languages means testing sentiment in each one, with native speakers checking the labels. Ask any bidder which languages they will test and who will do it.

The last driver is how much of the old way you are replacing. Organisations that already run a survey tool, a quality assurance tool and a separate speech analytics product should decide which ones Salesforce replaces. Running all of them in parallel for a year doubles the subscription cost while nobody trusts either set of numbers.

## Getting comparable quotes, and what gets left out

Give every bidder the same brief: your channels and monthly volumes by channel, your languages, your current tools, the edition you hold, and the three decisions the insight must support. Then ask each one to return a quote broken into the work packages above, with a written forecast of Experience Signals and Flex Credits for the first twelve months.

These items are left out of conversation insight quotes more often than any others:

- **The meter forecast.** A quote that prices the build and says nothing about Experience Signals or Flex Credits has handed you the hardest number to estimate.
- **A full sandbox.** Testing on real transcripts needs real data. Core lists a full sandbox as available for purchase rather than included.
- **Transcript storage.** Months of chat and voice transcripts add up. Check your storage allowance and the cost of more.
- **Data 360 credits,** if outside channels are brought in through Data 360 rather than a direct integration.
- **Shield or equivalent controls,** if conversations carry health, financial or other sensitive data and your policy requires encryption or event monitoring.
- **Editor and supervisor time.** The Knowledge loop and the signal triage are permanent work, not project tasks.
- **Overlap with tools you are retiring.** Licence ramp periods rarely line up with contract end dates.

Ask one more question of each bidder: which part of their quote would change if the name Bonobo were removed. If the answer is nothing, the name was only ever a label on the cover page.

## Questions

### Can I still buy Bonobo from Salesforce?

No. Salesforce acquired the Bonobo team and technology in 2019 and never sold a product under that name. There is no licence, package or setup guide called Bonobo, so there is nothing to buy or install.

### What is the closest Salesforce product to what Bonobo did?

Customer Signals Intelligence, sold as an add-on to a Service Cloud edition. Salesforce lists it at US$5 per 100 Experience Signals as at October 2026. It analyses sentiment and feedback across service interactions, and Agentforce can summarise the issues behind negative sentiment.

### Which Service Cloud edition do I need for conversation insight?

Salesforce tells buyers to start by selecting a Service Cloud edition and then add Service Operations capabilities, including Customer Signals Intelligence. Check which edition includes the sandbox, backup and support items you need. Advanced, at US$395 per user per month billed annually, includes a full sandbox and a Premier Success Plan, which Core lists as extra purchases.

### Why is the meter forecast more important than the seat price?

Experience Signals and Agentforce Flex Credits rise with customer contact volume, not with headcount. A product fault that doubles contact for a month doubles that part of the bill. Ask each bidder for a twelve-month forecast built from your real volumes by channel.

### Do I need Data 360 to analyse conversations?

Not if chat, email and cases already live in Service Cloud. You may need it, or another integration, if voice or chat runs on an outside platform and transcripts must be brought together. Data 360 is priced separately in Flex Credits or per profile.
